Acne scarring repair

How it works
Depending on your skin condition and problem your looking to resolve, the treatment can be advanced by having a BioRePeel Skin Peel before or after and LED therapy after to improve healing.

Serum selection, cleanse & numbing
On the day of your Dermapen treatment, your aesthetic therapist will complete a medical assessment and thoroughly assess your current skin condition. We deep cleanse area of face / body to be treated before applying anesthetic numbing cream which takes about 20 mins and then adding a blended hydrating serum.
Microneedling treatment
Once treatment areas have been established the depth of the needle punctures are changed for each area of the face / body. For example acne scars on cheeks the needle depth is increased. Dermapen sterile disposable tips have 12 integrated needles electronically controlled with patented safety enhancements delivering up to 1300 micro punctures per second. Its often described as a scratching feeling but it’s not painful. The actual needling itself takes between 15-25 minutes depending on the coverage. Stomach stretch mark do take longer.
Serum, optional peel
The pre-prepared serums are applied to treated areas. Once the skin has healed its ideal for optional Medi grade peel as part of the treatment to exfoliate dead skin cells and encourage new collagen production.
LED therapy
LED infra red light therapy is often talked about as an aid to accelerate healing can help reduce inflammation minimising redness, however after numerous case studies we recommend 7 days between The micro needling and LED therapy.

Aftercare
369 LC will provide tailored aftercare advice for clients. Here are some basic aftercare guidelines provided by Dermapen.
– Drink water after the treatment.
– Avoid UV exposure & sun tanning beds & sprays
– Avoid intensive exercise until the skin has healed
– Avoid excessively hot showers until the skin has healed
– Do not wear makeup for 24-48hrs
– Avoid active topical treatments
– Avoid further treatments such as microdermabrasion, laser, IPL, chemical peels.
– Avoid swimming
– Avoid tattoos

General Questions
Do I need to prepare my skin before treatment?
Before any microneedling treatment, it is best to have skin makeup free adn cleaned thoroughly as well as avoiding sun exposure for 24 hours prior. Your therapist will prepare the skin properly before treatment.
How does the treatment feel?
Microneedling treatments are relatively pain-free and feels like a light vibrating sensation on the skin with very light pressure applied.
How will my skin look after the treatment?
Skin reactions depend on the individual, however skin will appear pink/red for around 24 hours. Other reactions after the treatment may include tightness & slight flaking. Skin will be back to normal within 7 days.
What is the downtime after a microneedling treatment?
Some erythema may last up to 2 days post-treatment. Mineral-based makeup may be used after 24 hours and most can return to normal activities after microneedling treatments.

How many sessions do i need for Dermapen Microneedling therapy?

It depends on the skin condition and area and what is desired. Skin condition improvement is noticeable after the very first treatment. Typically a course of 3 to 6 sessions is recommended.
What is the recommended gap between micro needling sessions?
2-4 weeks
We recommend the first few treatments are spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart
What can I expect during the micro needling treatment?
Scratchy feeling, no downtime.
Micro-needling does sound painful but its not with the latest Dermapen and a qualified practitioner. Numbing cream is applied and the needle depth is regularly changed depending on the area being worked on. For Acne scarring repair the puncture depth is increased and there maybe a small amount of blood which can be cleaned away.
Which skin tones are best for micro needling therapy?
We can treat any skin type with professional Dermapen Microneedling therapy.
How long will it take for my skin to heal?
Most clients resume normal activities immediately after a clinical procedure. Expect around 5-7 days for full healing. There maybe some skin that peels away. Localised erythema (redness) may last up to 2 days post-procedure.
How long will it take to see the full results?
It depends on a persons your cell renewal, which slows down as we age. It can take up to 8 weeks to see the full results. The skin cell regeneration will continue over the following months resulting in a gradual enhancement.
How do i maintain the effect after all the sessions are complete?
We recommended a 1 session treatment every 6 months.
What potential side effects are there for Demapen Microneedling?
Minimum side effects. Red skin few hours immediately after. Possibility of; minor bleeding, flakey skin.
Minimal side effects or risks. The area of skin will be red in appearance for a couple of hours after the session is complete, much like medium sunburn. Some minor bleeding and is bruising possible and more likely if treating Acne scarring. The area will feel warm, dry or tight. Other side effects are minor flaking or dryness of the skin, the skin may scab over in rare cases. If you commonly get cold sores, they could possibly become more prevalent.
Health and Medical Concerns
Contraindications - people who cannot receive treatment
History of keloid or hypertrophic scars or poor wound healing
Radiation treatment within 1 year
Used certain medication for Acne within the last 6 months (please enquire)
Open wounds, cuts or abrasions to the skin area to be treated
Current outbreak of herpes simplex (cold sores) active acne, or any other infection or chronic skin condition in the area to be treated
Have areas of the skin that are numb or lack sensation
Are Dermapen Treatments™ safe during pregnancy?
If you’re pregnant or lactating, we recommend seeking medical permission first.
Can you have a Dermapen™ microneedling procedure if you have an open wound?
The Dermapen™ device is designed to tighten, lift, and rejuvenate skin. We don’t recommend using it on an open wound. Wait for the area to heal and then proceed.
Does Dermapen™ improve the appearance of veins?
While Dermapen™ can provide a visual reduction in some telangiectasia, the treatments are not designed to treat or target veins.
Aftercare
What are the aftercare guidelines?
Don’t touch the treated area immediately after.
We highly recommend a high factor SPF cream after the treatment and avoid strong sunlight.
We recommended to avoid make-up for at least 12 hours
Use only warm (not hot) water to cleanse the face for 48 hours after and pat dry using a clean towel
Avoid high impact exercise for 12 hours.
