Cleanse & Serum application

At the start of the LED Therapy session, your aesthetic therapist will complete a medical assessment and thoroughly assess your current skin condition. We cleanse the treatment area and apply carefully selected mixture serum.

During the Peel session

Your 369 LC practitioner prepare the chemical peel the type and strength will vary depending on the specific skin concerns and the individual. A pre-peel may be applied to degrease the skin. The chemical solution is applied by using a brush and monitored throughout the session by the practitioner. You may experience a mild tingling or stinging sensation, this is normal and usually subsides quickly. Some peels will be neutralised at the right point.

After the Peel session

We provide aftercare instructions how to cleanse and moisturise your skin, avoid sun exposure and using Factor 30+ Sunscreen. You may experience mild redness, flaking, or peeling in the days following the treatment. This is a normal part of the skin’s healing process.

General Questions

How long does a full treatment session take?

30-60 min per sessions

This is approximate time, it depends on the skin condition and area and what is desired. the first session will take longer as we take time to make a medical assessment.

How many sessions are recommended for Peels?

4-6 sessions

It depends on the skin condition and area and what is to be treated. Typically a course of 4 to 6 sessions is recommended for healthy glowing skin.

What is the recommended gap between chemical peel sessions?

2 weeks

It depends on the skin condition and individual. Your skin therapist will recommend a treatment plan and gap between sessions. Sessions should not be skipped as may reduce the effectiveness of the treatment.

What can I expect during the Chemical Peel treatment?

Tingling stinging.

Mild tingling or stinging sensation, this is normal and usually subsides quickly

Which skin tones can best with Chemical Peels?

May not be suitable for individuals with very dark skin tones. Your Skin Therapy will consider factors such as skin tone, sensitivity, underlying skin conditions, and adjust the Peel type and solution to address the skin concerns.

How long will it take for my skin to heal?

1 to 3 days after the peel: The redness and sensitivity may continue, and your skin might start to develop a brownish crust or scab as it begins to peel.

3 to 5 days after the peel: Peeling and flaking of the skin will become more apparent. The treated area may look pink or reddish as the old skin sheds, and new, rejuvenated skin starts to emerge.

5 to 7 days after the peel: Most of the peeling will have subsided, and your skin will continue to improve in texture and appearance. The pink or red color will start to fade.

1 to 2 weeks and beyond: By this time, your skin should have healed, and you’ll notice significant improvements in your skin’s texture and tone. Any residual redness should gradually fade over the following weeks.

 

 

How do i maintain the effect after all the sessions are complete?

4 to 6 months

The frequency of maintenance sessions can vary depending on individual needs, but typically we advise every 4 to 6 months.

What potential side effects to a medium TCA 35% chemical peel?

Redness, swelling, peeling & flaking, sensitivity, dryness, crusting.

For 3% TCA medium peel:

Redness: Skin will appear red immediately after the peel and may continue for several days.

Swelling: Mild to moderate swelling of the treated area may occur, more likely around the eyes and mouth.

Peeling & flaking: Within a few days after the peel, your skin will start to peel and flake as the damaged outer layers are shed to reveal new skin.

Sensitivity: Your skin will be more sensitive than usual, and you may experience discomfort, stinging, or burning sensations.

Dryness: Your skin may feel dry and tight as it heals.

Crusting: Brownish crusts or scabs may form on the treated area during the peeling process.

Itching: You may experience mild itching as your skin heals.

Changes in skin color: Temporary darkening or lightening of the treated skin can occur. This is more common in individuals with darker skin tones.

What other types of chemical peel are there?

3 types or classification of peels, called superficial, medium and deep.

Superficial and medium peels are usually safe, as long as they’re done correctly. These type of peels are not permanent and they need to be repeated.

Deeper peels are more risky. They’re longer-lasting and do not usually need to be repeated.

Health and Medical Concerns

Contraindications - people who may not be able to use a medium Chemical Peel

Before the session 369 LC make a full medical assessment. Here are some general contraindictions, the people who will be unable to undergo the medium Chemical Peel treatment.

Darker Skin Types: Medium depth TCA peels can carry a higher risk of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) in individuals with darker skin tones, Fitzpatrick scale IV – VI.

Active Infections: such as herpes simplex (cold sores), impetigo, bacterial or viral infection, a chemical peel should be postponed until the infection is fully resolved.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Chemical peels, especially medium-depth peels, are generally not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Keloids or Hypertrophic Scarring: If you have a history of keloids or hypertrophic scarring, medium chemical peels may increase the risk of developing these types of scars. We can discuss this during a consultation.

Allergies or Sensitivities: to trichloroacetic acid (TCA) or any other ingredients in the chemical peel solution, this treatment is not suitable for you.

Certain Medications: recent use of isotretinoin (Accutane), retinoids, and certain antibiotics, can increase skin sensitivity and may affect the healing process after a chemical peel.

Recent Laser or Cosmetic Procedures: in the treatment area may affect your skin’s ability to heal properly after a chemical peel.

Sunburned or Irritated Skin: You should not undergo a chemical peel.

History of Skin Cancer: history or currently undergoing treatment for skin cancer, chemical peels may not be appropriate. Seek medical advice.

Have areas of the skin that are numb or lack sensation

If you’re pregnant, as a precaution, it is generally recommended to avoid Chemical Peels

Aftercare

What are the aftercare guidelines?

Please see the aftercare section of this website for full details. Here are some basic guidelines.

Follow aftercare advice: We supply specific aftercare instructions please follow them carefully.

Keep the Treated Area Clean: using mild cleanser and lukewarm water. Avoid using hot water or harsh cleansers.

Moisturise Regularly: Apply a gentle, non-irritating moisturizer multiple times a day

Avoid Sun Exposure: Stay out of direct sunlight for at least one to two weeks after the peel. Apply SPF 30 sunscreen every 2 hours.

Do Not Peel or Pick at the Skin: Allow the peeling process to happen naturally. Picking at the skin can lead to scarring and may delay the healing process.

Avoid Makeup: and skin products that contain harsh chemicals, exfoliants, or retinoids until your skin has fully healed.

Activites: Avoid activities that generate sweat such as intense exercise or saunas, for several days after the peel

Avoid Excessive Heat: Avoid hot showers or baths for the first few days

Be Patient: Let your skin heal naturally.

Avoid Smoking: If you smoke, refrain from smoking during the healing process, as smoking can impair skin healing.

Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water.
